It's called a marimba! It came this morning!!
By the way I still need a name for this creature...

Please ignore all the other crap in this photo... :)
For those wanting all the specs, it's an Adams Concert Series 4.3 octave rosewood marimba with the Voyager frame/height adjustment system that I ordered from Woodshed Percussion in Toronto. Including tax and shipping (by Day and Ross) it cost about $8000, but I think it's a great investment since otherwise I have to travel an hour and a half each way to school to even get to a marimba. It's really nice and it sounds great! Now I just have to make sure I sound great ;)

Here are some pictures just to show you ALL the stuff that had to be done before I could actually play the thing. Note that it took me about 10 minutes of searching for a missing piece to realize I was looking at the instructions to another model. But it's together without a scratch!

Two boxes of marimba... see filing cabinet or guitar for scale :P

What my Dad and I see after prying several huge staples out of the first box... oh boy.

Back to important stuff: the frame is almost built!! That part took the longest to figure out.
